AI Student Bootcamp Returns to 'Iolani School: Building AI Literacy for Hawaii's Keiki

Last summer, I started a small experiment at 'Iolani School – an AI Student Bootcamp that grew from a simple idea: our keiki need to understand the technology that's reshaping their world. What began as an exploratory program quickly revealed a deeper need in our community. Parents from across Oahu reached out, recognizing that AI literacy would be crucial for their children's future, but unsure where to begin.

The experiences and feedback from our first cohort helped us understand what Hawaii's families truly need in AI education. Students showed us how they could blend their natural creativity with these new AI tools, while parents shared their hopes and concerns about AI's role in their keiki's education.
